Perhaps you have found Richard Rohr by now, but if not, I really, deeply recommend you read him :) His podcast, Another Name for Everything is glorious. His website is cac.org. Thanks for this!

True. Thank you.

Even those people and institutions that supposedly promote God are actually on the other side. The individual can find God him or herself. It's actually easy but it is presented to us as either pointless or impossible.

Just ask a question in your mind, like "If you exist at all, what do you want of me?" The answer will emerge through the fog of noise and babble that infects our minds. If we persist with our questions however, that fog will disappear.

Hi Abby,

I struggle with the Earth School piece a little - maybe a lot. That we are here to learn is OK, but are we saying that our “circumstances” are put upon us by God?

In my own biological family, my older brother was born special needs….traumatic birth, severe autism as a result, mistakes by doctors in the 1946 hospital situation. So, are we saying God caused this for my brother so he could learn????

How could God want this for any of God’s children?? To live a compromised life the way my brother did? To teach him a lesson?

This is where I cannot believe that is true. A loving God is not a causative agent in any of our trials and tribulations, but “sits with us” through anything we are going through, both the bitter and the sweet.

I was a part of a spiritual group (in America, but they are world wide) who also referred to the “life school” we attend everyday. So I have heard this “school” piece before.

I believe random things happen to us in our lives, and we do learn lessons from these things, both positive and negative. I also think many of these happenings have something to do with the choices we make - and we do have free choice, or our families do that for us until we are able. And then there are genetics too, which come to okay. Does God cause that?

I’m just wondering. Not arguing at all - just framing it up for myself.

Thanks,

Martie

I find no fault in one trying to be inclusive.
