An Post Part 3 - They still are demanding a TV Licence

They switched it from being in my name to my husbands name and came after him. And now they're coming back for me. I'm not holding back this time.

On the same day that my husband was in court for the second time to declare that we do not have a television set in our private residence, this notice was generated and posted out to me.

It arrived yesterday and I opened it up last night. You will see that it is in my name.

The TV Licence was always in my name. As soon as I did not pay it, they switched it over to my husband’s name and came after him. What kind of fuckery is this??

Only while writing my response today did I realise that this notice, addressed to me, was drawn up on the very same day my husband was in court.

What is going on with this??

Here is my response to them, sent this time by email. Yes I’m angry - and I am not holding back.

RE: Notice 3101309930 dated May 10th, 2024

Please see attached letters dated 8 March 2023, 7 September 2022. You obviously have not received the information, so here it is again.

In synopsis:

Due to the breaches by RTE to the broadcasting act, the breaking of the code of ethics and their blatant, consistent lack of true, balanced and unemotional reporting, we got rid of our television set.

I refuse to support RTE in any way, shape or form. They make me sick.

I now have an issue with An Post and how you, (An Post), are treating this situation.

Once you received my letters from March 2023, you switched the TV licence notice to my husband's name and pursued him instead of me. This is disgraceful!!!  We still did not have a television set. Your TV Licence Inspector decided to escalate this issue regardless and An Post issued a court order.

My husband had to go to court to formally declare that we do not have a television set. It was duly noted, yet a second court date was issued to him. Why?? Because your administration system did not register his statement. Is this deliberate??

My husband has now been to court TWICE over this issue, the most recent date was May 10th 2024. The exact same date that this notice was sent to me. What exactly are you playing at??

Both times my husband was in court, the barrister representing A Post recognised that we do not have a television set, but whether she put it on the record this second time I do not know.  I’ll say it again for the record - We do not have a television set.

How long is this going to go on for?? Enough!!!

I do not have a television set. My husband does not have a television set. There is no television set at my address. The reason as to why is clear in the letters that I have sent. I have not changed my mind.

TAKE US OFF OF YOUR REGISTER.

Until RTE responds to me and addresses the issues in my letters (attached), I have absolutely zero intention of getting a television set. You and I both know that this will never happen. And even if they were to address my issues, the trust has been irrevocably broken. I will never trust them again.

In the meantime, I do not give permission for TV Licence Inspectors to come anywhere near my property. I say once more, take us off of your register.

Will they listen this time? I don’t know. I do know my husband would have preferred me to write to them and simply say, ‘You’ve made a mistake, we have no tv, thank you, goodbye.’ I’ve put up with being nice for long enough. I am not thanking them nor am I being nice. Sorry love, I had to say it loud and clear. Nobody listened to us for years. For years. Four years.

Well, maybe now they will listen.
